Definition: A popular expression for the deposition of rainfall of various airborne pollutants (especially SO2 and NO2) that have harmful effects on vegetation, soils, buildings and other external structures.

Notes:There is a difference between 'acid rain' and 'acid deposition' the later referring to a chemical process resulting in the product of the other (acid rain).
